Moves from Asian markets lower after China’s manufacturing province of Zhejiang suspended many business operations due to rising COVID-19 cases. The markets primed for PPI and a deluge of Central Bankers.

One key thing to watch after the PPI release and the Fed meeting is how interest rate hike expectations change. At present Fed futures are pricing in 2 hikes next year.

Weekly Overview: Market Wrap – Stocks and Oil Take a Breather Ahead of US Inflation Report

The markets:

  • WTI futures off overnight highs up .24 at $71.22
  • Natural gas -.08 after yesterday’s weaker weather runs crumbled prices
  • Apple hanging around $176.90, up 1.20 from yesterday’s reversal close after upgraded to Buy from Neutral at BofA Securities.
  • The obsession remains the price of Apple for 3 trillion market is $182.86
  • Adobe (ADBE 646.70, -11.60): -1.8% after downgraded to Neutral from Overweight at JP Morgan. 
  • Neogen (NEOG 44.99, +4.87): +12.1% after announcing it will combine 3M’s (MMM 176.40, +1.82, +1.0%) Food Safety business with its existing operations through a “Reverse Morris Trust” structure. The transaction implies an enterprise value for 3M’s Food Safety business of approximately $5.3 billion, including new debt. 
  • US yields higher ahead of the producer price index data to be released at 8:30 AM ET. The 2-yr yield is up one basis point to 0.65%, and the 10-yr yield is up two basis points to 1.44%. 
  • Spot gold down -$1.70 or -0.09% at $1783.90
  • Spot silver is down $0.18 -0.82% at $22.13
  • Bitcoin at $47,616. Near the 5 PM close yesterday the price is trading at $46,507.
  • In forex the EUR the strongest, JPY weakest
