China manufacturing and non-manufacturing purchasing managers indexes for March turned higher with export orders turning back over 50 in the midst of trade war dogma.

Manufacturing PMI for March

  • 51.5 beating the expected 50.6 and prior 50.3. This was the first increase month on month since November last year. 
  • Output sub-index 53.1, prior 50.3
  • Export orders 51.3, prior 49.0
  • New orders 53.3, prior 51.0
  • Factory jobs sub index 49.1, prior 48.1

Non-manufacturing PMI for March

  • 54.6 matching expected 54.6 and beating prior prior 54.4
  • Composite 54.0, prior 52.9

It has been reported that the manufacturing improvement was helped along by the easing of pollution controls with winter ending as construction activity picks up.

Out on Monday the the Caixin Markit private survey manufacturing PMI that focuses on smaller companies and less on the nationalised businesses which many argue are reported on fictitiously.
