Yuup, some UCLA players are stealing the show already
Three freshmen on the UCLA men’s basketball team accused of shoplifting in the Chinese city of Hangzhou could be months away from returning home while the legal process in their case plays out.

ESPN, citing a source with firsthand knowledge, reported Wednesday that LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were released on bail after being questioned about stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store near the team hotel. ESPN’s LA-based reporter Arash Markazi is covering the team from China.

UCLA is scheduled to open its season in Shanghai on Saturday against Georgia Tech

^^^ +3 … I listened to UVA game on local radio as we hit 18F in SW VA last night…. UVa played excellent defense 🙂

VIRGINIA TECH won big with 110 point game… so did Duke and most of favored teams … usually 1st games are against weaker & usually out-matched opponents … still sometimes David will win v. Goliath in these matchups 😉 …

speaking of Duke

The top HS prospect in the Class of 2018 announced on Friday night that he will be taking his talents to Duke next fall.

The 6-6 Canadian native (Mississauga, Ontario) led his country to the U19 FIBA World Cup gold medal in Egypt. It was the first time that Canada ever claimed a gold medal (in basketball) in international competition. Canada has been producing top-notch hoops talent for the past few years and Barrett is expected to be the next one up the pipeline.

UVA Cavs won verses Austin Peay Governors …. I listened to most of 1st half but had to turn off at about 40-13 mark … still it’s a great game for both schools to warm up season … UVA rested most of 1st team starters & some of the new redshirts & freshmen played (the “H”s — Hunter & Huff are 2 I have my eye on)

Tony Bennett is a highly ethical & moral coach (as I listen to UVA network & his 1 hour show … he & most team members follow those same best practices that I do each Sunday 🙂 .

and from a pure coahcing standpoint — he is innovative in focusing on DEFENSE plus selfless team play … Huff for example at 7’1″ was 2-2 from 3 point land & may be even a new future star :)

I really wanted to watch those game but the Raptors (8-5) were playing the Houston Rockets (11-4) (best team in the West)

Toronto put up 76 pts in the first half, had to make sure they held on
which they did, 129-113

Virginia ends the month on a solid note 7-0

but the Wisconsin’s 37 points are the fewest in ACC/Big Ten Challenge history
a game which Virginia took 0 free throws
