ParticipantThe best team in college basketball might not send a single player to the NBA this June. The most consistent program in the ACC over the past half decade has recruited only one McDonald’s All American in that span. The University of Virginia has a coach who once swore he’d never go into the profession, and a collection of players who were chosen, in part, for their ability to cope with losing. Under head coach Tony Bennett, the Cavaliers have built a program that seems to feed on itself, turning midlevel recruits into incubating redshirts into ACC stars. They have forged a culture that perpetuates success, regardless of the individuals on the floor, like college basketball’s version of the San Antonio Spurs. They are tough and deep and efficient, among the favorites to win a national championship in April.

KeymasterTony Bennett & most of players are devout Christians & actually some of individual players might “star” in other colleges … Dean Smith was only coach in history to keep Michael Jordan under 20pts per game … and most of UVA players actually would made great defensive players in NBA 🙂
Salty Jack is one of my favorites …. He is actually one example as he shows leadership v. does not score huge #s … Salt is team captain & often mentioned 1st by coach … google “WFIR radio live feed” if you want to listen to CAV sports network 🙂
UVA actually has superstars as Ty & Hunter & Diakite are impressive this year
Louisville could even have more talent & wants to make NCAA … so the Cardinals do have a chance to upset as they are better than 19-11 record but scared by past scandals

KeymasterA thriller in Lowey-villa …… UVA 67 v LOU 66 on desparation 3 pointer by future superstar De’Andre Hunter … last regular season game v. Notre Dame … then the real MADNESS begins with ACC & other conf. tournaments 8)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) De’Andre Hunter’s only thought with 0.9 seconds remaining was how fast he would shoot the ball if he got it in his hands, though he wasn’t sure if his desperation heave from the left side of the 3-point circle had the distance or accuracy. Fortunately for the Virginia freshman guard, his shot had the glass to bank it through as time expired, completing a rally from 13 points down and giving the top-ranked Cavaliers an improbable 67-66 victory Thursday night over stunned Louisville.

KeymasterUVA v. NOTRE DAME — 4pm (radio stream WFIR – Roanoke)
(ND has been surging after mid-season struggle – hopefully Hunter may be next Michael Jordan — or at least I hope lol — and he doing far better than average is one credit coach noted in #1 ranking along with solid play for rest of team … plus leader “Salty Jack” who doesn’t get stats but leads the team) ….
UVA is a class act in all sports, even if they may not have enough talent to win it all. But more than winning it all – Coach notes #1 goal is to build a good character & education for each 8)

Bennett: “Now we are in the one and done, tournament play time. I think that today was about putting out stamp on the game to finish our season strong.”
