As of Thursday, New Orleans city officials said, 108 of 120 pumps and 26 power generators were in place to back up working turbines. Also, the city said efforts to clean thousands of street catch basins had been stepped up, with vacuum trucks dispatched to various areas to suck out thick mud and debris.

and I became interested in hurricane flags & learned — that if you see TWO FLAGS (as depicted below) you’d better get out of Dodge City & New Orleans / Mississippi area as well … hope all make it safely thru storm (and while hurricane season peaks on SEP 10 — it ain’t officially over til NOVEMBER)

[size=5]Weather.COM has some good coverage also … actually a 2nd landfall might occur later as well …. we will get some wind (30mph range) and rain (3-5″) in SW VA but YMMV as a cold front near DAYTON is also steering this

….thankfully for global warming else it might be snow 😉

NATE brought wind & lots of warm rain to SW … it is 75F in Roanoke even at 5:30 am due to tropical affects … It is heading to GREAT WHITE NORTH rapidly (and should be even past A3 soon so he can celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada) … we still more rain ahead on trailing bands of storm that are racing up north now

Seems Nate swung through without too much damage other than Biloxi flooding on the surge thankfully. Didn’t know about the flags ty CI.
