The long-awaited yuan-denominated futures on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange traded at 427.90 yuan a barrel ($67.78) for September settlement at 2:13 p.m. local time, with about 18,540 lots changing hands. The contracts, which are open to foreign investors, end years of delays and setbacks since China’s first attempt to list the securities in 1993.
September contracts of the two major dollar-based oil benchmarks, Brent in London and West Texas Intermediate in New York, traded near $68.29 a barrel and $64, respectively.
US exempts S.Korea from steel import tariffs
In exchange, the country will cap its exports of the metal at 2.68 million tons a year, which equals 70 percent of South Korea’s annual average shipments to the US between 2015 and 2017.
“This certain situation is so dire and has become so large that probably some well-crafted regulation is necessary,” Apple’s Tim Cook said after being asked about Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal.
“The ability of anyone to know what you’ve been browsing about for years, who your contacts are, who their contacts are, things you like and dislike and every intimate detail of your life – from my own point of view it shouldn’t exist.”
