ParticipantWhen the US dollar was on par with Canada, Canadians were buying into the real estate market and buying companies. So the low USD was good for Canada. I don’t think there is any benefit to America or Americans with a low US dollar policy, not for a consumer nation.

ParticipantAfter six consecutive quarters of growth, Chinese smartphone shipments fell 3% to 113 million in Q2 2017. Huawei shipped over 23 million to lead the market for the second quarter in a row. Oppo shipped just over 21 million and had to settle for second place, despite growing 37% year on year. Vivo held onto third place, shipping just over 16 million, losing ground on the leading pair during the quarter.
Xiaomi was the standout vendor as it overtook Apple $AAPL to take fourth place.

Diana Containerships’ stock plummets after plans for second reverse stock split in a month
Shares of Diana Containerships Inc. $DCIX -29.15% plummeted 31% toward a record low in premarket trade Wednesday, after the provider of shipping transport services said it will effect a 1-for-6 reverse stock split.
The stock will begin trading on a split-adjusted basis on or about July 27. That would be the second reverse split this month, after a 1-for-7 split went into effect on July 5. The stock recently traded at 32 cents ahead of the open, which is below the previous record low close of 45 cents, most recently hit on July 21.
