Apple $AAPL earnings per share of $1.67 on sales of $45.4 billion in the June quarter, compared with $1.42 and $42.36 billion in the year-earlier period.

Analysts expected Apple to earn $1.57 a share on sales of $44.89 billion in its fiscal third quarter.
