Apple unveiled its next-generation mobile operating system as expected, iOS 12, faster performance and enhanced features such as new augmented reality apps for the
iPhone and iPad.

“For iOS 12, we are doubling down on performance,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, said in the opening keynote of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif.

New version of its software development kit for augmented reality apps, called AR Kit 2.0. Demonstrated two new AR games, including one from Lego, and an app that measures physical objects.

Apple also demonstrated improvements to its Siri voice assistant with Siri Shortcuts that works with third-party applications.
