Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index up for the 17th straight session on Monday, rising about 2.9% to its highest since December 23rd at 1,465 points, amid stronger demand across all vessel segments.

The capesize index, which tracks iron ore and coal cargos of 150,000 tonnes, increased for the 16th successive day, surging 4.4% to a more than 11-week high of 1,821 points;
The panamax index, which tracks coal or grain cargoes of about 60,000 tonnes to 70,000 tonnes, was up 1.6% to a near four-month high of 1,680 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index increased by 26 points to 1,225 points.
