ECB Leaves Rates Unchanged As Expected, Rates Unchanged Through Summer 2019

ECB interest rates on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged. Rates to be unchanged Through Summer 2019.

The European Central Bank announces its monetary policy decision for January 2019

The Governing Council of the European Central Bank decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.00%, 0.25% and -0.40% respectively. The Governing Council expects the key ECB interest rates to remain at their present levels for an extended period of time, and well past the horizon of the net asset purchases

  • Main refinancing rate 0.00%
  • Marginal lending facility 0.25%
  • Deposit facility -0.40%
  • To keep rates unchanged at least through the summer of 2019
  • Intends to reinvest, in full, for an extended period of time past the date when it starts raising key rates
  • Key interest rates to remain at present levels at least through the summer of 2019
  • And in any case for as long as necessary to ensure continued sustained convergence of inflation to central’s banks’s target of 2%
