Caltex Australia released better than expected first quarter earnings. $CTX.AU profit was boosted by increased transport fuel sales as Australia’s economy expands.
Earnings
Aftertax profit for the first quarter rose to 172 million Australian dollars (US$129.6 million). The figure includes an inventory gain of A$17 million. A year ago $CTX.AU reported a profit of A$161 million.
Earnings measured on a replacement-cost of sales basis remained static over the year.with A$155 million compared to A$154 million last year.
Highlights
- Sales of transport fuels from its production rose 8% to 1.58 billion liters, up 8%
- Refiner margin declined by US$2.82 barrel year-over-year to US$9.40
- Total sales volumes domestically were 3% higher at 4.1 billion liters.
