EIA's Weekly Gas Storage Report Report Date: 12/29/16

Natural Gas Futures Jan Expiration today saw a viscous reversal on the Jan-Feb spread taking out shorts ahead of the final EIA report for the year.  We have risen over 60 cents after last week's panic sell off.  Again last week's surprise came in the south-central region and again is the area to be wary of.

This week's consensus is for a draw of -232 Bcf with a wide eggnog fueled range of -198 to -245 Bcf from over 25 analysts. Note the Bloomberg Bloomberg Energy S/D Model is at -245 Bcf their Flow Model was at -215.2 last week.

Actual - 237 Bcf Prior -209 Bcf
Consensus Forecast  - 232 Bcf
Cons. Range: -198 to -245 Bcf
EIA swap: -230 to -231 @ CT 15.13

Working gas in storage was 3,360 Bcf as of Friday, December 23, 2016, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decline of 237 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 413 Bcf less than last year at this time and 79 Bcf below the five-year average of 3,439 Bcf. At 3,360 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
